Old Man & The Young was founded in the Spring of 2018 by singer-songwriter, Paul Fitzgerald, and trumpet player, Theo Van Dyck — along with cellist, Eric Adamshick, and Eliud Garcia on percussion and trombone. After meeting for the first time one afternoon in March to record an entry for NPR’s Tiny Desk Contest, old and young alike had so much fun playing together — they decided to keep it going.

After joining up with vocalist and bassist Nate Debrine in the summer of ‘18, OMTY began playing out with a revolving line-up of musicians, including: Will Wortley on trombone, Nate Lawson on drums, Val Crnjak on cello and Liz Rauch on fiddle, among others.

Mixing brass and classical string influences with a little Americana alt-country, Old Man & The Young aspires to root its music in the tradition of great narrative-driven songwriting artists ranging from Jackson Browne to James Taylor and Patty Griffin to Willie Nelson, among many others.
