Old Man & The Young was founded in the Spring of 2018 by singer-songwriter Paul Fitzgerald, cellist Eric Adamshick, Eliud Garcia on percussion and trombone, and Theo Van Dyck on trumpet. After meeting for the first time one afternoon in March to record an entry for NPR’s Tiny Desk Contest, old and young alike had so much fun playing together — they decided to keep it going.

With members coming and going for life-related reasons, the band now plays out with a revolving line-up of musicians, including: Will Wortley on trombone, Nate Lawson on drums, Nate Debrine on bass and Val Crnjak on cello.

Mixing brass with classical string influences and a little Americana alt-country, Old Man & The Young’s music aspires to follow in the tradition of narrative-driven songwriting artists like James Taylor, Jackson Browne and Patty Griffin, among many others.
